Founded 1804

When Father Lasuen died, Father Tapis became the president of the California Missions. He founded Mission Santa Ines, near the Nojoqui Falls. At this mission, the Indians learned to make saddles and silver crafts.

Mission of California

The eighteenth mission was founded on September 17, 1804, by Father Lasu?n. It was named for Louis IX, King of France (1215-70), who was canonized in 1290 for his crusades to Egypt and the Holy Land.
